hopes chained to the ground
we silently seek your solace proud
we have ourselves king crowned
doubts crowd my brain, fears resound
forlorn lethargy cries none can save us
hopes chained to the ground
in past, we heard your trumpet sound
daybreak brought joy; sun flawless
proud, we hail ourselves king crowned
future holds no promise to be found
we are guilty, a race of the lawless
hopes chained to the ground
horrors and blame, all that surround
we have become the dead, the aweless
proud, we have ourselves king crowned
to you we must come ’round
rise up, fresh spring gladiolus
hopes chained to the ground
proud, we have ourselves king crowned

We have become “the Aweless.” This is a great insight from Ruth on the prevalent attitudes of secularism. In Scripture, when people could not comprehend, they laughed at Jesus. St. Paul writes that the unspiritual man rejects the gifts of the Spirit because he sees them as folly. When man attempts to measure the supernatural, it is easy to ignore the path to humility and take the road to aweless.
Great portrayal of our society rejecting the supernatural, while not recognizing that God is our only Hope.
